From the May 2013 issue of Working People’s Advocate
Brothers and sisters! The Workers Party in America extends its greetings to you on this International Workers’ Day. This is an important moment for the working class, and we wish to take this opportunity to open a discussion with our fellow workers about what is happening and what must be done to defend and extend our basic political rights and economic livelihoods.
Without question, we are living in a time of austerity. Week after week, month after month, we are seeing the owners and managers forcing all of us workers to work harder for less. Every push to increase “productivity” — every appeal to “tighten our belts” — every move to cut programs that only benefit workers — they are all designed to make us pay for an economic crisis we did not create.
